First Run and Startup Flow

On launch, Aide prepares your local agent workspace. You will see a full-screen startup dialog with a progress bar and status text. The sequence includes:

1. Initialize settings and validate license.
2. Prompt for user role (first run only).
3. Confirm privacy agreement.
4. Clean up unused model files.
5. Check required models (ASR, LLM, VAD).
6. Download missing models if needed.
7. Initialize speech and AI engines.
8. Finalize and open the app.

Role selection dialog

If your role has not been set, a modal dialog appears. Choose one of the roles (General, Legal, IT, Market, Finance, Manufacture, Design, Product). This role helps Aide tune memory extraction and agent responses for your work context. Click:

• Get Started on first run.
• Save when changing role later in Settings.

Privacy dialog

A privacy agreement dialog appears on first run. You must accept it to proceed.

• Click Agree and Continue to proceed.

Model download dialog

If required models are missing, the Model Download dialog appears:

• A list of models is shown with progress bars.
• Download All begins downloads.
• Quit App closes the app without downloading.
• If a download fails, a snackbar appears with a Retry action.

You cannot proceed without required models.
