Settings

Open Settings from the bottom of the left navigation rail. Settings define how Aide behaves as your local or remote agent platform.
Settings are organized into these sections:
- General
- AI Backend
- Audio Device
- Subscription
- About
General
User Profile:
- View or change your role/profile.
Language and Region:
- App language
- Date format
Appearance:
- Theme: System, Light, or Dark
Notifications:
- Turn desktop alerts on/off
Transcription:
- Show timestamps
- Preferred translation language
- Auto summarize after recording or file processing
AI Backend
Choose how Aide runs AI features:
- Local (on this device)
- Remote (your own HTTP server)
If you choose Remote, you can:
- Set the remote server URL
- Import the API key file
- Run a health + authorization check
- Follow the full setup guide in
12-http-server.md
Note:
- The API key is read from the local key file under
.Aide/config. - If remote server settings are incomplete, Aide will show an error before starting tasks.
Recommendation:
- Use Local for fully on-device private workflows.
- Use Remote for shared infrastructure and team-scale throughput.
Audio Device
Microphone Input:
- Select input device
- Use
Test Microphoneto check levels
Speaker Output:
- Select output device
- Use
Test Speakerto play a test sound
Storage:
- View current storage location
- Click
Changeto choose another folder - Click
Cleanupto delete old sessions
Subscription
Subscription overview:
- Check your current plan
- Compare Free and Pro features
- Upgrade to Pro
License activation:
- Enter a license key
- Click
Verify and Activate - If activation fails, an error message is shown
About
